Emilia Romagna Farm holiday
At 650 mt. above sea level, in the heart of the Emilian Alps rises the Tizzano farm house. Located in an excellent geographical position, it is an ideal starting point for cultural, nature and sporting activities. Tizzano is about 35 km distance from Bologna and Modena. Bologna has always being known as a cultural capital for it’s architectural charm. Modena, thanks to the square, the Duomo and Ghirlandma Tower, is one of most beautiful groups of Romanesque architecture existing in Italy. But the most fascinating reason why you should take a holiday at Tizzano is the discovery of the Appinines, a land rich in castles, abbeys, Romanesque churches, old villages and towns, natural parks, walkways and mountain bike trails. And don’t forget Maranello, the FERRARI’s headquarters and it’s much visited museum. The Imola circuit and other prestigious houses like Maserati, Bugatti, Lamborghini and Ducati, represent the sporting centre of the Emilia Romagna’s region. Tizzano Agricultural estate is run by a family: Stefano and his mother Leoninlde and it grows cherries, chestnuts, grain, barley and hay for breeding diary cows that produce milk, cheese, ricotta cheese and meat for the restaurant, all strictly organic, certified by A.I.A.B. The reception is simple and friendly, the accommodation offered is in an old stone built farm house dating from medieval times. Here on the ground floor there is space for the restaurant, while the accomodation comprises 7 rustic bedrooms with shared bathroom facilities that are located on the two floors above. Two other buildings are being restored, both in stone and from the 19th century. In the first building two apartments have been constructed while in the other one there is an apartment ideal for the disabled. At the moment these three apartments don’t have a kitchen and the furnishing is not complete, so the guests can use the B&B or half board service at the farm house. Even if it’s a rustic farm house, thanks to its spontaneity and to its typical and natural cooking, for many years TIZZANO has been reported in important national guides such as the “Italy’s tavern” (a bible for gourmets) and international guids like the English ITALY: the routh guide. At Tizzano you can appreciate the Emilian kitchen, considered the best in Italy, and you can become acquainted with some of typical alpine specialities, likes ‘crescentine’ cooked in the ‘tigelle’ and the ‘borlenghi’. All these are enhanced by the produce used, which all come from off the farm. In the centre of Tizzano there is a large court yard, the real heart of the farm. It is always full of animals such as goats, hens, rabbits, peacocks, ducks, geese, etc. that frequently used in . Adjacent there is a small lake, a relaxing pastime for those guests who like to fish. Periods which have a particularly charming: - the beginning of April when the cherries trees are in flower; - the end of May and June when the farm work is at its height and it’s the cherry season. - October which is the season for chestnuts and mushrooms. TIZZANO is also an educational farm and can accommodate schools and adult’ groups and it is also finishing a large hall adapted to group activities such as meetings or yoga.
