“Le Oche Grigie” country house B&B is set in an area of extraordinary beauty, just a short distance from the centuries-old Farneta Abby (9th century) and near Cortona, an ancient Etruscan and later Medieval town which still retains its austere architecture. The house, built in the 1800s of exposed brick, has completely refurbished, comfortable, air-conditioned/heated apartments.
The swimming pool, which is surround by olive trees, is an ideal spot to spend quiet moments in harmony with nature. In addition, there are riding stables, a spa with wellness centre and a golf course all nearby, offering various ways to spend your time, or if you prefer you can explore the architectural and artistic beauty of Tuscany, Umbria and Lazio.
Some apartments are communicating: an ideal solution for numerous families or groups of friends; prices are upon request. All the apartments have a spacious bedroom, bathroom with shower (with thick crystal enclosure), sitting room with kitchenette; most of the units offer private outdoor space with garden furniture.
Due to its strategic position, “Le Oche Grigie” can be a point of departure for excursions to interesting cultural-artistic or eno-gastronomic localities. For example, starting from Montepulciano, with its lovely 14th century palaces and well-stocked wineries, you could go to Pienza, the Papal city, then on toward the charming countryside around S. Quirico D’Orcia where your spirit can absorb the coolness of a well-conserved 11th century church. And don’t miss Bagno Vignoni, just 5 km away, where the main square is essentially a giant thermal pool. If you begin to tire, then head to a typical restaurant in Montalcino to taste traditional Tuscan dishes together with the famous local red wine, unless you want to try the noble Brunello. This is just one example of the numerous itineraries we can suggest as nearby there is also Perugia as well as fascinating small villages like Gargonza with only four residents. But the real jewel of the Val di Chiana è CORTONA.
Geographically at the centre of an enchanted area, Cortona offers centuries of history. Still today, it is enclosed by the ancient city walls which rise and fall for almost 3 km along the steep slopes of Monte di Sant’Egidio. Many sections of the wall are the original stone blocks placed by the Etruscan founders of the city.
