The farm sits atop a hill in a particularly favourable position, with the woods and forests of the Apennine mountains behind it and dominating the most beautiful valley in
Umbria which is circumscribed by
Assisi,
Gubbio,
Perugia,
Spello and
Montefalco.
The Melograno is also home to some of the
best cuisine in Umbra: simply prepared dishes which exalt the natural flavours and satisfy the palate. All the ingredients are carefully selected and are either produced at the farm or are acquired from local growers, assuring reliability and complete safety.
In our kitchen you will not find cooks dedicated to experimentation or re-elaboration of traditional dishes and recipes, but rather you’ll be nicely surprised to find
mature women who are experts in the culinary arts and who “make the pasta by hand and roll out the dough themselves” , preparing the dishes based on how they were taught by their mothers and grandmothers. It seems almost as if nothing has changed in terms of the pasta dishes, soups, legumes, meats roasted over a wood-burning flame, and typical cakes, as well as in many other delicious offerings.
In reality, at the Melograno holiday farm the traditions don’t need rediscovery: typical products have always been prepared and preserved according to the ancient recipes and methods, using the most wholesome of ingredients cultivated in a completely natural way. Our
extra virgin olive oil, full of flavour, deserves particular mention as do our
jams, made from various types of fruit without the addition of any preservatives or colouring agents,
tomato pastes and sauces, to be used in succulent and tasty dressings, and our
honey. Our products may also be purchased directly at the farm.
